God Stoops

2 minute read

“They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him. But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground. At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” “No one, sir,” she said. “Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”” John‬ ‭8:6-11‬ ‭NIV‬‬

This scripture has many great lessons wrapped into one. What I love most about it, though, is that Jesus bent down. I think that is so deep! It shows that Jesus doesn’t just sit and look upon us. He meets us where we are. He is not afraid to get dirty, either. The Bible tells us that He wrote on the ground with His finger. Nothing is too messy for God! You are never too far down that He can’t reach you. The text tells us, He stoops!

No matter where you are. No matter what you have done. Breath in your body means that you have another chance to accept God. Your sins aren’t too big, and you are never too far. Ask Him to come into your mess. After all, He is called the Mess-i-ah!

Jesus bent down twice in this text, showing His mercy. Will you ask Him to stoop for you?

Xoxo
